Athlete Leadership Forum 2021

Special Olympics Asia Pacific’s first Athlete Leadership Forum provided a platform for athlete leaders to discuss and learn more about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We focused on 2 SDGs that are important to youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Through panel discussions and interactive sessions, the participants developed a better understanding of the SDGs and had the opportunity to discuss what SDGs 4 and 8 mean to them. By providing a safe and inclusive space for participants to explore the SDGs, the forum equipped them with the necessary skills and knowledge to better advocate for the inclusion of people with IDD in the SDGs as global citizens and changemakers.
